Connected Vehicle Hardware Independent Testing

ITS Roads leads bench and field testing of new connected vehicle hardware.

The Client

The client is a large, non-profit contractor designing new Connected Vehicle infrastructure for a federal transportation agency and helping to develop guidelines for states deploying new infrastructure to establish connectivity between traveling vehicles and roadside infrastructure.

The Challenge

Deploying new infrastructure to enable wireless connectivity, as well as facilitating access to power and backend network connectivity, is a massive capital undertaking that requires advanced skillsets in networking, data management and infrastructure monitoring. States need clear guidance to ensure that all new technology is interoperable across the nation, to minimize the footprint of new hardware, and to plan for system growth.

Connected Vehicle Hardware Test

The Solution

To optimize the deployment profile, ITS Roads is leading bench and field testing of new hardware and applications in different configurations. Our team is evaluating system performance using existing equipment as well as on new, dedicated hardware. By running iterative tests on various deployment configurations, this project will ensure that state guidance minimizes the cost of implementation and reduces the need for future upgrades.
